Roller shades

Mentioning roller shades to most people often elicits negative reactions. Common memories of roll shades are struggles raising and lowering them, chewed up edges, and breaking springs. The old mechanisms of the past have out-lived their usefulness, but the concept of a roller shade has distinct advantages. Today’s roller shades are a new breed.

Due to the perfection of the chain drive mechanism, roller shades are being recognized with renewed interest as an alternative. They are truly easy to operate and dependable. Based on a clutch lift system, similar to those available on pleated and cellular shades, raising and lowering of the shade requires just a gentle pull on the continuous loop chain.

Automated window coverings

Verticals

Cornices

Cornices are made entirely with wood and covered with fabric in a upholstered application.

Usually constructed with a shape they are used ornamentally at the top of windows. We have a library of colours, styles and fabrics to choose from.

Specialty windows

To dress or not to dress is often a consideration with arched windows, and architects often place arched windows in areas that allows you the option of dressing or not. Often, arched windows are planned around a magnificent view. However, if light control, privacy or insulation is a factor, dressing the arch could become necessary.

Hard treatments (blinds, vertical or shutters) can control this problem, however, they could never take the place of fabric. Fabric makes a room warm and inviting, adds colour, enhances the theme, makes a great focal point.

When the view is a consideration, select a treatment that will frame the view, possibly combining hard and soft treatments.

Swags

Swags with cascades are the most formal of draped headings. They add elegance to traditional settings. Swags make a fine crown for a curtain, helping to frame the window and view the beyond.

In formal settings they can be highly elaborate. They can also be used in more modern applications draped over a decorative pole with finials.

Valances are a soft fabric application that is positioned at the top of the window. Available in a variety of styles.

Draperies

A window covering with usually a pinch pleated heading. Although their are several other types of headings, tab top, goblet pleats, grommets, rings with a pole and a shirred heading to name a few.

They can be made lined or unlined. They are occasionally hung from a traverse rod, so they can be drawn open and closed.
